My Daddy's Cheesecake's rich, creamy cheesecake always won well deserved raves from Professor Tom Harte's family and friends. When his daughter started waitressing as a summer job, she convinced "Daddy" to bake "just four cakes each week" for a restaurant in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. With equal persuasion she suggested that her customers try a slice of "my daddy's cheesecake" for dessert. Before long, other waiters and waitresses began using the line and the name stuck. Soon demand for the cheesecakes grew and My Daddy's Cheesecake became the dessert sensation of Southeast Missouri. But that was not enough for the dessert enthusiasts. Tom went on to win the Best New Dessert of the Year award in 1990 and 1991 in the National Gorman Baking Contest.

In 1996, on My Daddy's 9th birthday, a new "Daddy", Wes Kinsey, took over the fast, growing, and established business. Wes is a veteran baker and graduate of Wilton School of Confectionery Arts in Chicago, Illinois. Wes started baking and decorating cakes in 1973. Since that time he has baked, decorated, and delivered thousands of desserts. He has helped publish six Wilton Cake Decorating books and demonstrated his talents at professional trade shows and conventions all across the United States. Wes brings a unique and creative flair to My Daddy's Cheesecake. In August 1997, My Daddy's Cheesecake was selected out of 200 Missouri businesses to appear on QVC's 50 in 50 Tour. The live broadcast from downtown St. Louis was seen by millions of viewers all across the United States. My Daddy offered its 9" Death by Chocolate and it was a chocolate success!

In 2003, My Daddy's Cheesecake moved to a new location at 2031 Cape LaCroix Road, on the northwest side of Cape Girardeau. The new facility not only brought new production and retail space but also a new partner to help run the day-to-day operations. Kevin and Susan Stanfield joined forces with Wes and Ann Kinsey to help make My Daddy's Cheesecake Bakery and Cafe what it is today! In October 2006, My Daddy's Cheesecake Bakery and Cafe moved into a brand new state-of-the-art 5,500 square-foot store and production facility.

My Daddy's has started it's 2nd corporate store in Clayton Missouri. Construction began in December of 2008 and Grand Opening is sceduled for mid to late March 2009.
